10 Tips For Staying Committed To Your Health & Fitness Goals

Even after everything you read online or everything you buy, none of it will matter if you can’t commit.

Commitment is truly a mind thing, and it’s one of the hardest things to do in life.

I created this list the day I started my journey, after my first workout.

I was so excited and knew I wanted to go all the way and not give up.

These are some reminders that will keep you going when things get rough, so copy this if you need to.

Start with something easy

If you aren’t used to being active DO NOT just dive right in to the extreme stuff.

Don’t go to the gym and start deadlifting 300 lbs because you saw someone else do it.

You might get hurt if you do too much too fast.

please don’t get carried out of the gym like this lol

Start with power walking, or swimming, dancing, stretching, lifting lighter weights etc.

Your body needs time to adapt, so take it slow.

Increase the challenge each week to progress

Understand results don’t come overnight

This is a process that cannot be rushed.

Take your time, do the work, and the results will come.

It took a long time for you to get to the point you are at.

Whether you realize that or not.

It’s going to take some patience, so take things slow and try to enjoy the journey.

Accept that you won’t always want to work out

You are human.

There will be days you just aren’t feeling it.

There might be times when you you’re too excited because you’re going on vacation and the gym just aint calling your name.

You can either push through those feelings and workout, or not.

You don’t have to beat yourself up if you decide you don’t want to.

As long as it’s not happening too frequently

Just keep going at it tomorrow.

Don’t give up!

Something is better than nothing

If you aren’t feeling your workout for that day, do something else.

If there is an exercise that you can’t do that well, do something else.

If your goal is to burn fat then anything is better than nothing.

Often times I like to go for a walk when I don’t want to do a workout.

If there’s an exercise I can’t do correctly or it hurts too much I typically will replace it with jumping jacks or anything else that I can do, just so I’m still moving.

Realize you won’t be able to do every exercise at first

That is not an excuse to give up.

There are people who have been in the game for 10+ years.

Don’t compare yourself, a beginner, to them.

As mentioned above, DO SOMETHING ELSE!

Or work your way up gradually to that level.

This leads me to my next tip,

Allow yourself to be a beginner, without being so hard on yourself

Your body has to learn and adjust to exercising and decreasing calories.

That is normal.

You could burn yourself out if you try to do more than what your body is currently capable of.

Take things one day at a time, and work your way up.

And again

DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO ANYONE ELSE UNLESS IT’S THE PERSON THAT YOU WERE YESTERDAY!

Mix it up

Try new things when your motivation is lacking.

Increase your weight.

Go to a spin class.

SOMETHING!

Challenge yourself.

You will get bored eventually, so use that time to learn something else, or try something more fun.

Visualize your results

Imagine the body you’re going to have, or the way you’re going to feel when you finally reach your goals.

I used to lay in bed at night smiling at the ceiling thinking about how fine I was gonna be, and how good and confident I was gonna feel.

Do it. lol

It is actually very motivating.

Celebrate small wins!

Are you able to do one more push up than last week?

Maybe you can run for 30 extra seconds.

Or maybe you just noticed ya knees don’t hurt anymore when you squat.

Celebrate these things, because that is progress too!

It’s not just about the way you look physically.

In this journey you are going to notice way more changes  about yourself than just what you see on the outside.

So, don’t short yourself for accomplishing other things. You deserve  all the praise.

Remember why you started

I say this sooooo much, because it really helped me.

Don’t forget your why.

Remind yourself everyday if you have to.

When all else fails, this may be the push you need to get up one day.

For me, remembering why I started reminded me of where I came from and why I did’t want to quit..

With these tips in mind I know you can reach all of your health and fitness goals.

You have the power, the ability, the strength, and more.

You are going to do great things, and be the person that you want to be on the inside and out.
